Emergency plan should Include:

 

  • 2 safe meeting places near resident and outside immediate neighbourhood. Have an evacuation route from the neighbourhood
  • Communication plan that includes family members, out of town contacts and a list of people in your personal support network.

  

Helpful tips:

  •  Advise family and friends of your emergency plans
  • Inform others about special needs (administration of medication and medical equipment)
  • Practice your plan a couple times per year

 

Emergency Kits include enough supplies to last 3 days

 

  • Food that will not spoil such as canned foods, protein bars/ energy bars, dried foods
  • Water, have plenty of water for each person (2-4 litres per day)
  • Extra set of keys for house and vehicle
  • Cash, small amounts
  • Copy of emergency plan and contact information
  • Other items such as medication, equipment for people with disabilities
  • Pet supplies
  • Flashlight and radio (spare batteries)
  • First Aid kit
